NET REVIEW… 10 stations connected up. Youth: KI5KGE, KJ7AGQ, KI8AN, KE8ZYD, KD9HGO, KI5EWP, KN6ULC, KE8LQR, KK7UXY and one local station from my area. Was hoping for more, but perhaps the 10 meter contest drew some away. If you haven’t checked in for a while, consider doing so for the last two youth nets of 2024. I’d really enjoy hearing from some of our youth who have not checked in for a time.
CHAT SESSIONS… Monday: Nice group this evening…youth stations – WV4AM, AC1QD, KJ7AGQ, KF8AMV, K9GVN, KE8LQR, and these fine older hams, K4KDP and WB9CSP.

A SPECIAL YOUNG HAM INTERVIEW… https://youtu.be/WM9wR7wbUpE
This is one of the best I’ve seen recently. A proponent for youth involvement in ham radio.
And here is her email response to me. What a wonderful young ham…
…” Hi Mr. Engleman,
Thank you so much for your kind words and for reaching out! I’m honored that you enjoyed my interview with W1DED, and I truly appreciate your support. It means a lot to know that the message resonated and is being shared with others, especially young hams.
I’m familiar with the Young Amateurs Communications Ham Team (YACHT) and everything it stands for. I’ve been impressed with how YACHT connects youth in amateur radio and promotes a strong sense of community. Joining your Echolink node and participating in the youth net is absolutely on my to-do list, and I will do my best to attend once I have more flexibility in my schedule.
At the moment, I’m deeply immersed in preparing for my MCAT exam, which has been my top priority. However, as soon as I’m finished, I would love to engage more with YACHT and its activities. I’m a passionate advocate for advancing amateur radio by increasing awareness and interest among my fellow youth. This hobby has so much to offer in terms of education, teamwork, and hands-on STEM opportunities.
It’s inspiring to hear about Grace K8LG stepping into the role of youth forum coordinator for Hamvention and the fantastic work being done by KE8LQR and others in YACHT. Your group is clearly fostering an environment where young hams can grow, learn, and thrive.
Thank you for all you do to support and motivate the next generation of ham radio operators. Your dedication and leadership make a real difference in keeping this hobby alive and vibrant. I’ll definitely look for the YACHT NEWS and look forward to connecting with your team soon.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and all the best in your continued efforts with YACHT.
73,
McKenzie Denton
