NET REVIEW… Saturday, August 8 had a very strong Youth Net with 14 check ins. Arianna KJ5EWP and Del AG5QU shared Net Control duties. Youth ops: KJ5EWP, KJ7AGQ, KI8AN, KJ7MPQ, KD9GV, KI5KGE, KE8ZYD and KC3RAP. Also aboard: KG8CX, AD9DO, KA4RCV, K3TEL and VU2MDA. K3TEL and VU2MDA were in and out.

Saturday, August 15 had 11 check ins. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KC3RAP, KE9EKF, KI5KGE, KJ5EWP, KI8AN, KE8ZYD and KE2EVX. Haley KE2EVX was present but had no audio. Also aboard: KA4RCV, KG8CX and K3TEL.

Saturday, August 22 had 8 check ins. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KI5KGE, KJ5EWP and KC3RAP. Also aboard: KA4RCV, KG8CX, K3TEL and AG5QU. K3TEL and AG5QU were in and out.

Great to hear such strong youth participation on our Saturday Youth Nets. Let’s keep it going and encourage more of our young operators to check in each Saturday.

CHAT SESSIONS… Monday, August 10 had 7 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KE8LQR and KC3RAP. Also aboard were K3TEL, KG8CX, KE2AVB and TA5BHA in and out.

Tuesday, August 11 had 4 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ and KC3RAP. Also aboard were K3TEL and KG8CX.

Wednesday, August 12 had no chat session.

Thursday, August 13 had 5 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ and KC3RAP. Also aboard were K5NO in and out, K3TEL and KE2AVB.

Friday, August 14 had 6 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KE2EVX and KC3RAP. Also aboard were KA4RCV, K3TEL and KG8CX.

Monday, August 17 had 5 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KF8AMV and KE9EKF. Also aboard were KG8CX and K3TEL.

Tuesday, August 18 had 7 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KI8AN, KC3RAP, KE8ZYD and KR4FTP. Also aboard were KG8CX and K3TEL.

Wednesday, August 19 had 7 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KE2EEQ, KC3RAP, KI8AN and KE9EKF. Also aboard were KG8CX and K3TEL.

Thursday, August 20 had 5 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, K4EBP in and out, and KC3RAP. Also aboard were KG8CX and KJ5KES.

Friday, August 21 had 7 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KI8AN and KC3RAP. Also aboard were KE2AVB in and out, KG8CX, K8LK and K3TEL.

Monday, August 24 had 7 ops. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KE2EVX, KI8AN and KC3RAP. Also aboard were KA4RCV, KC3CDU and K3TEL.

Tuesday, August 25 had 5 ops. Youth op: KJ7AGQ and KE9FXQ in and out. Also aboard were K3TEL, KA4RCV and KG8CX.

Thanks to all who checked in and supported our youth operators. Just a minute or two is always appreciated and helps keep YACHT active. We would especially like to hear more of our youth members on the air during the weekday chat sessions.

GRAND HAVEN LIGHTHOUSE ON THE AIR… YACHT members Ian KI8AN, Kirsten KE8ZYD, Zoey W8ZLM and Grace K8LG were among the youth operators active with W8CSO at the Grand Haven Lighthouse in Michigan during National Lighthouse-Lightship Weekend on August 8. They made contacts on 20 and 40 meters using CW and SSB.

YOUTH NET CONTROL OPPORTUNITIES… We would love to have more of our youth operators try their hand at Net Control during our YACHT nets. If you have not done it before, this is a great opportunity to gain experience, build confidence and help YACHT continue to grow. We will be happy to help you along the way. Please consider giving it a try and helping lead your fellow young operators on the air.

NET REVIEW… There was no formal net on Saturday, August 1, but youth op KC3RAP stopped by along with KG8CX. KE2AVB and AG5QU were in and out. Let’s hope for a larger group and more youth check ins next Saturday.

Tuesday, August 4 had 6 ops. John KJ7AGQ was Net Control. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KC3RAP and K4EBP in and out. Also aboard were KG8CX, VU2MDA and KC3CDU.

Wednesday, August 5 had a strong group of 10 ops. John KJ7AGQ was Net Control. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KF8GDG, KF8GDF and KI8AN. Also aboard were K3TEL, KE2AVB, KG8CX, KC8JRS and KC3CDU, with VU2MDA in and out.

HALEY KE2EVX BIRTHDAY POTA ACTIVATION… Haley KE2EVX will be activating POTA with her club on Sunday, August 9, using the club callsign W2OW. If you make contact with W2OW on August 9, ask the operator to tell Haley Happy Birthday. Let’s have plenty of YACHT members looking for W2OW and wishing Haley a great birthday.

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER… The Perseid Meteor Shower will peak during the night of August 12 into the morning of August 13. A New Moon will provide dark skies and excellent viewing conditions. Find a dark area away from city lights, allow your eyes time to adjust and look up after midnight. The Perseids often produce many bright meteors and occasional fireballs.

The Perseids also provide opportunities for amateur radio meteor scatter. Ionized meteor trails can briefly reflect VHF and UHF signals, with 6 and 2 meters being popular bands for this activity. This could be an interesting mode for YACHT members to listen for or explore…

July 25 was a very good evening with 15 check ins. John KJ7AGQ was Net Control. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KC1WST, AC1QD, KC3RAP, KI5KGE, KJ5EWP, K4EBP, KE2EVX by proxy from K4EBP, KE2GKL receive only and KJ7MPQ. Also heard: AG5QU, KG8CX, KE2FTG, VU2MDA and K3TEL. Great to hear such a large group and so many youth operators. Let’s keep it going.

Monday, July 20 had 9 ops. John KJ7AGQ was Net Control. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KE9FQX, KE9EKF and KC3RAP. Also aboard: KE9ECM, K3TEL, KG8CX, VU2MDA and KC3CDU.

Tuesday, July 21 had no chat session, but youth op KC3RAP and KC3CDU stopped by.

Wednesday, July 22 had John KJ7AGQ as Net Control, with K3TEL, KG8CX and VU2MDA. KG8CX and VU2MDA had no audio.

Thursday, July 23 had no chat session, but youth ops KC3RAP and KE9EKF were present.

Friday, July 24 had John KJ7AGQ as Net Control, with youth op KC3RAP, along with K3TEL and VU2MDA. VU2MDA had no audio.

Monday, July 27 had 9 check ins. John KJ7AGQ was Net Control. Youth ops: KJ7AGQ, KI8AN, KC3RAP and KE9EKF. Also aboard: KG8CX, KT4ME, KA4RCV, K3TEL and VU2MDA. VU2MDA had no audio.

Tuesday, July 28 had no chat session, but youth op KC3RAP stopped by along with KC3CDU and KA4RCV.

Wednesday, July 29 had John KJ7AGQ as Net Control, with K3TEL and KG8CX also aboard.

NEW VOICES AND RADIO FAMILIES… It was great to welcome Emily KE9FQX on July 20, along with her father Patrick KE9ECM. We always enjoy hearing new voices and seeing families become involved in amateur radio together.

YACHT MEMBERS AT YOTA CAMP 2026 IN AUSTRIA… YACHT members Violetta KN2P and Katie KE8LQR will represent the United States at the IARU Region 1 YOTA Camp in Wagrain, Austria. Both enjoy contesting, and Katie is also an avid CW operator.
