YACHT: Connecting Youth and Young Ham Radio Operators Worldwide

Remembering Ed Engleman KG8CX

September 24, 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ed Engleman KG8CX, co-founder of the Young Amateurs Communications Ham Team (YACHT).

Ed devoted many years to supporting young people in amateur radio, helping young operators get on the air, build confidence, make friendships, and enjoy all that ham radio has to offer. His dedication to YACHT and to youth in amateur radio made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Ed was a friend, mentor, and familiar voice to so many in the YACHT community. He will be greatly missed.

YACHT will continue the work Ed began and carry his legacy forward.

Plans are being made for a special YACHT Memorial Net and Last Call for KG8CX. More information will be shared soon.
