NET REVIEW… Saturday, October 3 had a strong group of 11 check ins. Youth operators: KJ7AGQ, KC3RAP, KJ5EWP, KI5KGE, AC1QD and W1EEL. Also aboard were KA4RCV, AG5QU, K3TEL, KC3CDU and VU2MDA.
It was great to have such a strong group on the first Saturday Youth Net in October. We especially appreciate seeing so many of our young operators continuing to participate and support YACHT.
Saturday, October 10 had a smaller group of 5 check ins. Youth operators: KJ7AGQ and W1EEL. Also aboard were AD2NU, KB1U and K3TEL.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for both Saturday nets. We would certainly like to see our Saturday attendance grow, especially among our youth members. Even a short check in helps keep the net active and gives everyone another opportunity to visit with fellow hams. Let’s keep encouraging our young operators to join us each Saturday.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our weekday chat sessions over the past two weeks. We had some good youth participation, along with continued support from our longtime friends and adult operators.
It is especially encouraging to see young operators taking part in these sessions and helping keep YACHT active. Whether you stay for a few minutes or the entire session, your participation matters. These regular conversations help build friendships and give young hams a welcoming place to get on the air.
YOUTH NET CONTROL OPPORTUNITIES…We continue to look for youth operators who would like to help run our weekday chat sessions. With no sessions held on October 6 and October 8, it is important that we have volunteers available to help keep our regular schedule going.
A special thank you to Arnold K3TEL for serving as Net Control on October 1 and Haley KE2EVX for taking the controls on October 13. We appreciate both of you helping keep YACHT on the air.
Running Net Control is a great way to build confidence, gain experience and develop your communication skills. You do not need to have previous Net Control experience to volunteer. We are happy to help anyone who would like to give it a try.
The Google Calendar Net Control signup schedule is available on the YACHT website. You can view the schedule and sign up at:
https://yachtyouth.net/net-control-signup/
After running a session, please remember to submit your check ins using the Net Control Log form:
https://yachtyouth.net/net-control-log/
We would especially like to encourage more youth members to step forward and help with our nets. Even taking one session makes a difference and helps share the responsibilities of keeping YACHT active.
KEEPING YACHT SAILING…As we continue moving forward following the passing of Ed Engleman KG8CX, it is encouraging to hear our young operators and longtime supporters continuing to gather on the air.
Ed spent so many years building YACHT into a place where young hams could meet, learn, make friends and enjoy amateur radio together. Keeping these opportunities available for future generations is an important part of carrying his legacy forward.
YACHT has been bringing young amateur radio operators together since 2007, and we hope to continue for many years to come. This will take the involvement of our youth members, their families and the many adult supporters who have helped make YACHT possible.
Thank you to everyone who continues to be part of YACHT. Let’s keep getting on the air, welcoming new operators, supporting one another and making sure YACHT continues sailing through the radio waves.
